Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions

Q: How do I find out the part number of my lamp?

A: The part number of a lamp is usually engraved on the anode of the lamp itself. Please click here to see an image showing where the part number is usually located.

Q: What is the difference between an IPL lamp and a laser lamp?

A: There is very little outward difference between a laser lamp and an IPL lamp. First Light will design the cathode, gas type, gas pressure, quartz and finishing style to exactly suit the application

Q: What is your MOQ?

A: Our MOQ for non stock lamps is 5 PCS.

Q: Why are your lamps more expensive than lamps from China?

A: We believe that the lamps that we produce are competitively priced and provide the performance and lifetime equal to that of the OEM lamp. We don't pretend to compete on price with Chinese manufactured lamps as we feel that our UK manufactured lamps are of far superior quality to those lamps produced in China.

Q: Do your lamps perform the same as the OEM lamp?

A: The performance of the lamp is often very closely linked to the the overall health of the system. If the system is well maintained then there should be no reason to see a difference in performance from your current vendors lamp! In some cases using our lamps result in better lifetimes or overall performance.

Questions about existing orders

Q: What is the due date for my lamps?

A: The due date is the expected date that we expect to ship the lamps. Our aim is to always ship goods by the expected due date. The due date is always confirmed on your order acknowledgement.

Q: Can I increase an existing order?

A: Rather than increase an existing order, we would prefer it for customers to place a new separate order for any new requirements that you may have.

Q: Can I change my shipping/billing address?

A: Yes, shipping/billing addresses can be changed, although our preference would be to bill/ship to one single address in order to avoid unnecessary mistakes being made.

Quality Assurance

Q: Is there a warranty for the lamps?

A: Generally, our lamps have a warranty of 12 months from the date of shipping against manufacturing defects. Some lamps carry lifetime warranties to match OEM guarantees. Please contact us for more information.

Q: Who do I contact if I have a problem with one of the products we have purchased from you?

A: First Light Lamps have a dedicated Quality Assurance team who are always on hand to resolve any issues you may be experiencing with our products. As well as the Q.A. team, our knowledgeable Sales team can also be contacted to help resolve any immediate concerns you may have and are always happy to advise on any issues relating to our products.

Q: Why has my lamp failed?

A: We take the performance of our lamps very seriously. Lamp failure, although a rare occurance, could be due to a manufacturing fault, a system fault, handling fault or an operational fault. It is important to provide as much information as possible when reporting a fault to enable us to determine the root cause of the problem.
