Distance gauges are used to ensure the correct operating distance from the end of the laser handpiece to the skin. Various sizes of gauges are used depending on the treatment being applied, the skin type and the required spot size of the laser onto the skin.

Over time, distance gauges can deteriorate/break due to numerous reasons, the main reason being mishandling by the operator.
